About Integritus Healthcare
Integritus Healthcare began in 1987 as Berkshire Healthcare Systems, growing with support from Berkshire Health Systems. It rebranded as Integritus Healthcare while maintaining its mission as a not-for-profit, community-centered provider serving Massachusetts.
As a not-for-profit charitable trust, Integritus Healthcare reinvests time, talent, and resources into programs across post-acute care, long-term care, senior housing, and hospice. Its operations are deeply rooted in the communities it serves, with staff and leadership living locally.
All its skilled nursing affiliates are accredited by The Joint Commission, and several of its facilities have earned notable accreditations such as CARF (e.g., Kimball Farms), CHAP for hospice care, and recognition for quality like U.S. News & World Report 'Best Nursing Home' (2019-20) and AHCA/NCAL National Quality Awards.
Integritus Healthcare operates approximately 15 rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities throughout Massachusetts. These include homes in Berkshire County, the North Shore, Cape Cod, South Coast, and the Pioneer Valley.
The group provides a continuum of care: short-term rehabilitation ('Steps to Strength'), long-term nursing care, certified memory care units, assisted living, independent living, hospice, and respite care. Many of their skilled nursing centers have specialized programs such as certified dementia care units and dementia life enrichment.
Integritus Healthcare addresses regional healthcare needs and challenges. For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, their leadership took active roles with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to manage surges, including converting a facility into a COVID recovery center. They also face staffing challenges in rural Berkshire County, with high vacancy rates necessitating recruitment of many certified nursing assistants and nurses.
